Frequently Asked Questions
Headstrong Counselling offers low-cost, accessible counselling services, including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centred therapy. We provide both remote and in-person sessions.
Assessment sessions cost £45. Counselling fees vary based on income: £15-£35 for sessions with trainee counsellors and £40 for sessions with qualified therapists.
Your journey starts by booking an assessment. Assessments are £45 each. This includes a 50-minute assessment with a trained assessor, a review by one of our in-house psychologists, tailored matching to a trainee or PRO counsellor. If we are not a suitable service, we will signpost you appropriately and provide you with additional resources.
If you are assigned to our trainee service, you will be put in touch with your assigned therapist and arrange your sessions manually. You will be sent a payment link following your session to be paid within 48 hours. We are soon going GoCardless. All sessions will be paid through GoCardless.
If you are assigned to our PRO service, you will be provided with a live scheduling link of your therapist, and payments can be made when booking your sessions. You can also secure the same slot every week, but you will not be charged until 3 days before the session.
Yes, all counselling sessions are confidential. Our counsellors adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure your privacy. The only time we may break confidentiality (to your GP) is if we are worried about your safety, or someone else’s safety. We will endeavour to discuss this with you beforehand.
If you are seeing a trainee therapist, you can ask your therapist directly. If you are seeing a PRO therapist, you will be sent their profile before booking your first session with them.
We match you with a therapist based on your specific needs and preferences. However, if you have a particular preference, we will try to accommodate it.
Each counselling session typically lasts 50 minutes.

However, with our Headstrong Pro service, there is greater flexibility in scheduling sessions.
